Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) is so very thankful for all of our Partners in Education. So many businesses and organizations help provide opportunities and experiences for our students and teachers. Our district partners that each contribute in excess of $10,000 in value to help students are Brightmoor, Chick-fil-A, Dairy Queen, First National Bank, Georgia Banking Company, Marco's Pizza, Piedmont Fayette Hospital and United Bank. Thank you! Many others support the REACH and similar scholarships, individual schools, fine arts, athletics, and more. Some, like Norcom, provide school supplies. Some take part in the Partners in Education Fundraiser Golf Tournament (Sept 25 this year). Others serve as mentors and reading tutors for students. Community churches host events, volunteer at schools and pray for our students and staff. Thank you Griffin and Spalding for supporting our future through public education. We need you and we appreciate you!

Today, we celebrated “A Sweet Start to a Great Year” with a special afternoon surprise for our amazing staff! Tiny bundtini cakes and drinks were delivered right to classrooms, giving everyone a chance to choose their favorite flavor and enjoy a sweet treat. A HUGE thank you to Sabrina Perry and the recently opened Nothing Bundt Cakes in Griffin for the delicious Bundtinis, coupons for every staff member to enjoy later, and for helping us make the day extra special! And trust us, go try the Biscoff...or the oreo...or the white chocolate raspberry! We also want to encourage our families to support this wonderful new Griffin business. Nothing Bundt Cakes is already making a point to support our local community, including our schools, and we are so grateful. Thank you for giving our staff such a sweet surprise and helping us celebrate the start of another great year! 📍 Nothing Bundt Cakes Griffin 1424 N Expressway, Suite 125 Griffin, GA 30223

We started our day celebrating some incredible leaders. Congratulations to our first Leader of the Month recipients for the school year! These students were recognized for their leadership, enjoyed donuts, celebrated with their families, and had their pictures taken to remember the special occasion. The celebration doesn’t stop at school! Our Leaders of the Month will also be recognized in their communities with special signs delivered right to where they live. A big thank you to Blackshear Photography for creating these awesome signs and helping us celebrate our student leaders in such a special way. We are so proud of these Colts and can’t wait to see the leadership they continue to show throughout the year! #OurHabitsOurFuture

Cowan Road Elementary – Attendance Shoutout Shoutout to our amazing Cowan Road Elementary families! Our students showed up and showed out! Week one we reached an incredible 98% average daily attendance, and week two we held strong at 95%. In elementary school, consistent attendance makes a HUGE difference. Our youngest learners are building the foundation for lifelong success, and every day in school counts toward their growth—in reading, math, friendships, and confidence. Families, YOU are such a huge part of this success. Your support, routines, and encouragement help our Colts start each day ready to learn. Let’s keep the momentum going and aim high for week 3— back to 98% (or higher)!! Thank you for partnering with us. Together, we’re building habits for success! #OurHabitsOurFuture

Help Us Get Dismissal Running Smoothly from the Beginning! (Notes for Car Rider and Bus Riders) If your child is a car rider, please be sure to display your car tag. A visible tag helps us quickly identify your student and keeps our dismissal line moving safely and efficiently. Didn't pick up your car tags at Open House? We'll have a car tag station set up in the front hall tomorrow morning. If you're walking your student in, stop by on your way out and pick up your tags. It will make your dismissal much smoother! (Bus rider families, it's always a good idea to have a car tag, just in case you need to pick up one day). Over the first days, bus riders will have a wristband put on their bookbag. Please leave this on as it helps us match students to buses. Thank you for your patience during the first few days as everyone learns the routine. We appreciate your partnership in helping keep our Colts safe! #OurHabitsOurFuture

Colorful school flyer showing examples of a car rider tag (#500) displayed correctly by hanging from a rearview mirror, with incorrect examples behind the sun visor, on the dashboard, and in a side window marked with Xs. The flyer reminds families to pick up a car tag, follow dismissal procedures, and leave bus rider wristbands on backpacks to help ensure safe, efficient dismissal.
