Today for #GaPreKWeek, all GSCS pre-k students had guest readers come and read this year’s featured book, “Every Amazing Story” by Coy Bowles (from the Zac Brown Band) and Malcolm Mitchell (a former NFL player and literacy advocate). The book encourages children to see themselves as creative storytellers and celebrate their individuality.
GSCS has 22 pre-k classrooms serving over 400 students.
GSCS Pre-K Director Dr. Chris Bearden said, “GSCS Pre-K is excited to have these community leaders share the love of literacy with our pre-k scholars! We look forward to #GaPreKWeek each year to celebrate and showcase the hard work and dedication of our pre-k staff.”
Now in its 15th year, Georgia Pre-K Week raises awareness for the importance of quality early childhood education. Georgia’s Pre-K Program began 30 years ago, in 1992, and has grown from serving 750 children in its first year to approximately 73,000 annually.

The Food Drive to support Manna from Above (Sept. 1–30) was shared with our whole school, but our 4th graders really stepped up as leaders and ran with it! 🥫
Thanks to their hard work and big hearts, they collected a HUGE number of canned goods to support Manna’s mission of “Fighting Hunger One Day at a Time.” We’re so proud of how they’ve shown what it means to be a Leader in Me school—leading by example to serve others.
