Good afternoon, Cown Families!
Our students will be asked to complete a new student survey soon. It should take students approximately 10 minutes to complete, and it asks about the quality of teaching and learning, the school environment, support for students, and how commonly students in the school face challenges (such as being bullied). Names cannot be tied to survey answers in any way, and students can skip any question. The data will help leaders improve the school. Parents/guardians have the rights to request a copy of the questions on the survey and/or opt out of their child completing the survey. The attachments/linkto this email will give you directions to complete these students, if chosen. Opt-out forms should be submitted/completed by November 8. Thanks!

This is a new post with EDITED dates! Sorry, we had a change of dates due to a delay for turkey (we need that for a Thanksgiving meal!)
Thanksgiving Feast days are coming! A flyer with an RSVP portion will come home tomorrow. You don't need to send $ to purchase lunch tickets, but please send back the form to help us with planning. Remember that the lunch times are tentative and may be delayed due to the number of extra visitors on those days. We look forward to having you join us for this yummy Thanksgiving lunch. #ColtsCan #BeThankful

Dear GSCS,
This is a reminder that tomorrow, November 5, 2024, is an at home learning day for students and it is a teacher workday. No students should report to GSCS campuses tomorrow. The following link provides a tutorial of how students access their work from home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_0PAarGYIE
You get an extra hour of sleep tonight! But shhhh! Don't tell your kids, or they'll want to stay up later and you'll miss out on that extra sleep. :-)
Our September Parent and Family Engagement Newsletter is here and it's also Parent & Family Engagement month! We can't wait to see you at all of the fun events we have planned for this month! #ParentEngagement #ColtsCan

Have fun and stay safe out there this evening! Make sure your child can see and be seen. #ColtsCan #HaveFunSafely
Last evening GSCS held a town hall meeting to open a conversation about students’ cell phone use in school. Do cell phones compliment students' educational experience or create conflict? Schools across the state and nation have implemented policies regarding cell phones. Click this link to watch a video of an example of one option. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRQa8X5ORek
There is no proposal in GSCS, at this time, we simply would like to gather feedback from staff, students, parents and community members on this subject. Use the following link or scan the QR code in the image to take the survey. https://tejoin.com/scroll/624212205
Please complete the survey questions and answer the primary question in the Thought Exchange then please rate at least ten of the thoughts that others have shared. If the thought is something you believe has merit and should be further discussed rate it a four or a five. If the idea is not something that resonates as needing additional conversation rate it lower (1,2,3). Thank you in advance for your valuable feedback.
Red Ribbon inspires our kids to be happy, drug free, and brave! Each day of Red Ribbon Week, we have a theme that ties those ideas and the mission to help our students live a drug-free life. Monday was "I'm red-y to say no to drugs".
Please vote for your favorite pumpkin! https://bit.ly/3Ygog4d
