Happy Thursday! Mark your calendars for an important upcoming event — Parent-Teacher Conference Night at Cowan Road Elementary on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00–6:00 PM.

This special evening is your chance to connect one-on-one with your child’s teacher to talk about grades, learning progress, and ways to support success at home. With the middle of the year approaching (and holiday breaks right around the corner!), it’s the perfect time to check in and celebrate your child’s growth.

Today for #GaPreKWeek, all GSCS pre-k students had guest readers come and read this year’s featured book, “Every Amazing Story” by Coy Bowles (from the Zac Brown Band) and Malcolm Mitchell (a former NFL player and literacy advocate). The book encourages children to see themselves as creative storytellers and celebrate their individuality.
GSCS has 22 pre-k classrooms serving over 400 students.
GSCS Pre-K Director Dr. Chris Bearden said, “GSCS Pre-K is excited to have these community leaders share the love of literacy with our pre-k scholars! We look forward to #GaPreKWeek each year to celebrate and showcase the hard work and dedication of our pre-k staff.”
Now in its 15th year, Georgia Pre-K Week raises awareness for the importance of quality early childhood education. Georgia’s Pre-K Program began 30 years ago, in 1992, and has grown from serving 750 children in its first year to approximately 73,000 annually.
