We’re sharing the attached message from GSCS for your awareness. As a precaution, students are bringing home learning packets today in case a remote learning day is needed due to possible weather early next week.

No action is needed at this time. More information will be shared if plans change.

GSCS continues to work closely with Spalding County EMA to monitor the weather conditions. The latest forecast indicates that ice accumulation is possible in Griffin-Spalding County. Out of an abundance of caution, no staff or students should report to school/work on Monday, January 26. A decision regarding Tuesday will be made on Monday. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Please use caution and stay safe.

GSCS is working closely with Spalding County EMA and weather services to monitor conditions related to a weather system that is expected to bring cold temperatures, precipitation and possible ice to our area over the weekend. We will continue to monitor this situation and will provide any updates regarding school operations for Monday via our parent communication system (phone message, text, e-mail, app), social media outlets and the district website at www.gscs.org. Thank you, stay weather aware and safe.

Kids Heart Challenge is almost here! Thank you for your efforts in helping to change and save lives. Many students and families already completed Finn’s Mission, but I need your help to reach our goal. Sign up under our school today.

Thank you to the families who have already registered for our team and are learning the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR. Remember that if 50% of our families sign up, our school will earn an additional $500 gift certificate for fitness and well-being equipment to support the health of our school community. We just need 231 more students to register online! I know we can do this!

Career Day Volunteers Needed!
Cowan Road Elementary is hosting Career Day on April 17 from 9:00–12:00, and we’d love for parents, professionals, and community members to join us! Volunteers will talk about their careers, share education or training experiences, and inspire our students to dream big.
